How to use Google Maps offline in Android
Running around in an unknown place with a paper map in your hand??? Google’s offline map feature is here for your rescue!
Recently,at the Google maps “next dimension event, Google announced the new offline map feature for the Android devices. This new weapon in the Google Maps inventory may prove to be fruitful for the ones who don’t have a data connection or the ones who don’t like to waste their 3G/2G data on maps.
But you’ll get the new offline feature on your Android only if you update Google Maps to the latest version or download the latest version of Google Maps from the Google Play Store. To download Google Maps-Click Here!
Here are the steps you’ll need to follow to access the offline map feature on Google Maps:-
1> After updating or downloading the latest version of Google map, open the app.
2>Search for the place of your choice.
3> Open the map menu and click on “make available offline”.
4> You’ll be asked to confirm or crop the area of the map you want to download to make available offline.
NOTE: This offline feature is available for 150 countries and you can save offline maps for up to 6 large metropolitan areas (E.g. Delhi, Mumbai, New York).
5> After you’ve downloaded the map, you’ll be able to access it offline.
6> A great thing about this feature is that , the blue dot will move along with you in the offline map , even if the data connection is off ( GPS should be on).
